Thank you for visiting our website. We are so glad you found us! We are beyond excited to share with you our history, mission, statement of faith, and admissions process.
In 2012, Stephanie and Richie Ehlers, Melissa Hodges and Laura Rodriguez met to discuss the need for a school in the Bay Area for students with learning differences. Establishing a school took longer than we expected but our dream finally came true! The Momentum Academy is a private, accredited (via TAPPS), Christian non-profit school designed for students with learning differences. We provide individualized curriculum for each student, recognizing that some students may excel in one area and need remediation in others. We also believe that students do not all learn in the same way, but that they are all created for a purpose and can all be successful, given the right environment.
Our school is much needed in the Clear Lake area and long overdue. Our founders are educators, therapists, and all are parents, one of whom will has a child who was in the first graduating class at The Momentum Academy. We have all worked in the nonprofit setting and we feel called to work with students who are often misunderstood.
While there is not a "typical" student profile for our school, we primarily serve students with the following diagnoses (in no particular order):
We understand some students may have more than one issue and some may have issues not listed. Feel free to talk with us about your child’s challenges. We will evaluate each student to determine if our school will fit their needs.
